Box Score South Bend, Ind. - As Trinity Christian College women's basketball (12-9, 7-8 CCAC) looked for an upset road win, Indiana University South Bend (16-6, 9-5 CCAC) didn't let the possibility of an upset begin to brew. The Trolls fell on the road by a final of 87-30 Monday night. The Titans jumped out to a 25-4 lead in the first quarter and didn't let off the gas.
Trinity Christian had just one field goal in the first quarter and went 1-for-11 from the field. They had another slow offensive quarter in the third period. They scored only five points on 1-for-10 from the field in the third. Senior Gabby Kreykes led the Trolls in scoring with 10 points. Freshman Faith Davis added six points. South Bend had a balanced attack with four players scoring in double-figures.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- The Trolls committed 25 turnovers. It's just the fourth time this year they have had 20 or more turnovers.
- Junior guard Ma'Kaiya Vercher scored four points on 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
- Freshman Hannah Schuringa grabbed eight rebounds. She's had eight or more rebounds in six consecutive games.
- The Trolls shot 91.7% (11-12) from the free throw line.
UP NEXT: The second of three games this week includes a matchup with Trinity International University (2-11, 6-12 CCAC). The Trolls handled the Trojans 69-58 back on Nov. 10. Tip-off for Wednesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m. from Van Dixhorn Arena in Deerfield, Ill.
