Box Score Palos Heights, Ill. - It wasn't the Saturday afternoon that Trinity Christian College women's basketball (13-13, 8-12 CCAC) had planned. The Trolls fell inside DeVos Gymnasium, 98-59, to a dangerous Olivet Nazarene (18-9, 15-5 CCAC) basketball team.
Despite the loss, seniors Gabby Kreykes and Summer Cramer joined the 1000-Point Club. Kreykes scored 12 points while Cramer led the Trolls with 15 points. For Kreykes, she reached 1000 points in just two years as a Troll after transferring from Saint Xavier University. She reached 1000 points for her entire collegiate career last season. Cramer gets to the 1000 point mark after spending one season at University of the Cumberlands and three seasons at Trinity Christian College. She sits at 874 points in her three years as a Troll.
After trailing 49-33 at halftime, the Tigers came out of the locker room and went on a 16-0 run to put the game away. Olivet Nazarene relied on constant pressure defense to turn the Trolls over 35 times.
PLAYOFF UPDATE: As the Trolls enter the final week of the season, they sit tied for the eighth and final playoff spot with Governors State. They currently own the tiebreaker with Governors State thanks to a win over the Jaguars.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Freshman Faith Davis came off the bench for 11 points. Davis has scored in double figures in four of her last seven games.
- Cramer hit three, three-pointers. In her last four games, she has made 10 three-pointers.
- Freshman Hannah Schuringa, playing on her birthday, had an incredible seven blocks. She also grabbed 11 rebounds and scored six points.
- The Trolls were outrebounded 65-55.
