Balanced attack leads Trolls to 95-64 win

Box Score

Chicago, Ill. - As a snow storm swallowed downtown Chicago, Trinity Christian College men's basketball (11-18, 6-15 CCAC) created their own storm inside of the Solheim Center against non-conference opponent Moody Bible College (0-14). It was another "Hudak Attack." Trolls sophomore forward Dustin Hudak led the Trolls with 23 points while knocking down five three-pointers and the Trolls earned a 95-64 win to snap a five-game losing streak.

Five different Trolls scored in double-figures and Trinity Christian shot 40% (16-40) from the three-point line. Sophomore Braxton Barnhizer turned into a rebounding machine. He had 15 points and 22 rebounds.

Moody Bible College kept things close in the first 10 minutes of the game. Freshman Ricardo Mata entered the game and immediately had an impact. His three-pointer began a 17-3 run and the Trolls took a 36-22 advantage. Mata scored a season high eight points off the Trolls bench.

In the second half, the Trolls maintained a steady diet of Hudak. He scored 11 points and freshman Brandon Taylor stepped up with a big second half. He scored a career high 11 points to help the Trolls down the Archers, 95-64.

NOTES & NUMBERS:

  • Junior Vince Overway scored 19 points and scored eight points. He hit two three-pointers and has now hit nine three's in his last three games.
  • Barnhizer's 22 rebounds were a career high. His previous high came back on Jan. 19 when he had 20 rebounds against Cardinal Stritch.
  • After having just five three-pointers in his first 10 games of the year, Hudak now has made 10 three-pointers in his last three games.
  • Freshman Brady Loerop scored 12 points. It's the fifth time he's scored in double figures this year.
  • Trinity Christian College outrebounded Moody Bible 52-29.

UP NEXT: The Trolls will finish the season this saturday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. against Lincoln College. It will be "Senior Day" as the Trolls will honor seniors Jalyn Clark and Abe Washington.
