Box Score Palos Heights, Ill. - In the final game of the season, Trinity Christian College (11-19, 6-16 CCAC) men's basketball fell by a final score of 91-55 to Lincoln College (13-13, 12-10 CCAC) Saturday afternoon. The win heloped Lincoln secure the spot in the CCAC Playoffs.
Trinity had just two players score in double figures. Sophomore Braxton Barnhizer scored 11 points and senior James Penninton added 10 points. For the Lynx, it was freshman Peewee Brown scoring 20 points while big man, Dejon Barney scored 23 points.
The day belonged to senior Jalyn Clark. The Trolls honored the guard from South Holland, Ill. He came out and scored the first bucket of the day for the Trolls on a three-pointer. Lincoln led 10-3 to open the game before Clark scored again, this time on a layup. He finished the afternoon with seven points.
Lincoln held a 13-8 lead in the first six minutes but quickly grew their lead. They lead 37-14 late in the first half before Pennington got hot. He scored the next 10 points for the Trolls but Lincoln still went into halftime leading 49-26.
The Lynx went on a 15-2 run to open the second half and put the game away. Trinity ended the day shooting just 34% from the field.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Freshman Brandon Taylor scored eight points off the Trolls bench. Taylor ends his last two games scoring a combined 19 points. He scored 20 in the previous 16 games.
- Barnhizer grabbed eight rebounds and ends the season averaging 9.3 boards per game. He finishes the season with just six games below seven rebounds.
- Senior James Pennington ends the year averaging 18.5 points per game on 49% from the field and 38% from the three-point line.
- Trinity Christian ends the season with 10+ wins for the second consecutive season despite going 1-6 in February.
