Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A goal in the 64th minute was just enough, as Trinity Christian dropped its' men's soccer season opener on Saturday, falling to Cornerstone (Mich.) 1-0 at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
The Trolls (0-1) fired six shots on goal compared to Cornerstone's four, but were unable to find the back of the net. Brad Walters (3') and Manasse Mbuyi (24') each had first-half attempts on target, but were stopped by the Golden Eagles' keeper.
Cornerstone (1-0-1) broke through in the 64th minute, as Trinity looked to respond in the closing minutes. Matt Tamminga fired a pair of shots on goal, along with Fabio Enders and Martin Markovic, but none were able to find the equalizer.
The Trolls hit the road for their next contest, on Wednesday, August 31, when they travel to face Taylor (Ind.). Kickoff from Upland, Ind. Is set for 7:00 p.m.
