Trolls secure shutout victory over Calumet

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes of Saturday's match led Trinity Men's Soccer to their first victory of the season, 3-0 over Calumet in the team's CCAC opener at Schaaf Athletic Complex.

Matthew Stuursma gave the Trolls (1-3-1, 1-0 CCAC) the lead after less than eight minutes of play, scoring his first goal of the season. In the 13th minute, Alec Belcastro took the team lead with his second goal of the season as Trinity quickly took a 2-0 lead.

The Trolls controlled most of the match, out-shooting Calumet (1-2, 0-1 CCAC) by an 18-2 margin, but were unable to find the back of the net again until the second half. Manasse Mbuyi put away Trinity's third goal of the day in the 62nd minute, for his first goal this season.

Goalkeeper Giorgos Christdoulou earned the win, making two saves in the first half to secure the shutout.

The Trolls will now look to build their first win streak of the new season and keep their perfect conference record intact, when they host Governors State on Tuesday, September 13. Kickoff with the Jaguars from Schaaf Athletic Complex is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
