GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their final race before the start of the postseason, Trinity Cross Country competed at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday morning. The women's team would finish 15th in the White 5k race, while the men's squad placed 26th in the Maroon 8k race.
Three Trolls set personal bests in the 5-kilometer race, including freshman Catrina Farris, who was the team's top finisher at 63rd place, with a time of 21:23. Junior Olivia Wrobel posted a career-best time of 21:46 to place 76th overall. Freshman Adriana Veliz also set a new 5k best, crossing the line in 26:46.
In the men's race, Milos Pendic led the way for the Trolls, finishing 84th overall with an 8k time of 26:16. Mateo Arredondo (26:37; 114th) and Zac Maher (27:22; 170th) were also among the team leaders for Trinity.
The Trolls now set their sights on the CCAC Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Saturday, November 4 at Sunset Hill Farm County Park, in Valparaiso, Ind.
