PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – In his first game as a Troll, sophomore Garrett Greene led Trinity with 23 points in an 86-68 home win over Welch (Ky.) on Friday night at DeVos Gymnasium.
Team Leaders
• Green shot 7-for-15 from the floor and 8-for-9 from the free throw line to record the Trolls' (3-6) second 20-point performance this season. In 20 minutes off the bench, Green collected six rebounds in the win.
• Johnny Dieck posted a season-high 18 points, with five rebounds and four assists on 8-of-12 shooting.
• Brady Loerop scored double figures for the seventh time in eight games, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds.
• Dustin Hudak pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, with three assists and eight points.
How it Happened
• Opening with a 5-0 lead on a pair of buckets from Dieck, the Trolls never trailed throughout the night, despite Welch (4-6) quickly tying the game early on, 5-5 at the 17:10 mark of the first half.
• Tied at 9-9 three minutes later, five straight points from Greene started a 16-4 run that put the Trolls in front, 25-13 with 8:33 to play in the first half.
• Trinity closed the first half on a 9-2 run, led by Greene's 16 first- half points, in just seven minutes of action.
• Welch out-scored Trinity in the start of the second half with a 7-3 run, but the Trolls would maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
