PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Four Trolls finished in double figures, but a second-half rally would come up short as Trinity dropped a Saturday afternoon matchup with Indiana South Bend, 77-67 at DeVos Gymnasium.
Team Leaders
• Deylon Johnson led Trinity with 15 points off the bench, going 7-for-8 from the floor with four steals.
• Danny Staskunas and Brady Loerop each posted 13 points, on identical 5-for-10 shooting. Staskunas would go 3-for-8 from three-point range and three assists, while Loerop pulled down six rebounds and hit a pair of threes on the day.
• Dustin Hudak finished with ten points, three boards, and a pair of steals.
How it Happened
• A hard-fought opening stretch saw nine lead changes over the opening 11 minutes of the first half, with neither side building more than a two-point advantage. An 8-2 run over a 1:15 stretch saw the Titans take a 25-18 lead by the 7:29 mark.
• IU South Bend would go up by as much as 11 in the first half, but a 7-0 run for the Trolls would close the gap to 38-34 with 50 seconds left until halftime. The Titans would get two scores in the final minute and claim a 42-34 lead at the break.
• A three-pointer from Loerop at the 12:20 mark of the second half would get the Trolls to within five, 52-47. Trinity continued to hang around, with Staskunas' three making it a two-point game, 59-57 with 4:47 remaining.
• The Titans would pull away down the stretch, out-scoring Trinity 18-10 over the final four and a half minutes to secure the win.
