BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Four Trolls secured their spots in the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in their first appearances of the season, as Trinity Track & Field opened the indoor campaign at the Olivet Nazarene Holiday Open on Saturday.
NCCAA Qualifiers
• Madison Moraga would place 3rd men's 60 meters, finishing just one-hundredth off his school record with a time of 7.03. The sophomore earned his postseason berth in the preliminaries, where he posted a 7.10.
• In one of two event wins for the Trolls, Ivan Emde claimed the men's pole vault for his second career victory. Emde cleared 4.35m (14' 3.25"), nearly a foot and a half higher than the rest of the field.
• Trinity picked up two qualifiers in the throwing events, as Paige Stefanek reached the NCCAA standard in the women's weight throw, recording a toss of 13.31m (43' 8") in her fourth attempt.
• Owen Corbly also qualified in the men's weight throw, reaching 13.04m (42' 9.5") and setting a new personal record.
Event Wins
• Along with Emde in the Pole Vault, Abigail Hoekzema picked up the victory in the women's high jump. The sophomore cleared 1.45m (4' 9") on her first attempt, taking the top spot with fewer misses in the tiebreak. The 2024 CCAC Outdoor champion earns her third career win, and her first in the indoor season.
Personal Records
• Nine personal records were broken throughout the day; two on the men's side, including Corbly in the wright throw, and seven more by the women's squad. Ashley Lopez set personal records in two events, while as a team the Trolls set three P.R.s in the women's shot put.
