PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Hosting a nationally-ranked team at home for the first time this season, Trinity men's basketball put No. 14 Roosevelt on upset alert, but the Trolls would come up just short down the stretch, falling to the CCAC leaders, 75-71 on Saturday afternoon inside DeVos Gymnasium
Team Leaders
• Four players finished in double figures for Trinity, led by Dustin Hudak's 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
• Brady Loerop tallied 15 points, going 5-for-8 from the floor, while pulling down a game-high eight rebounds.
• Deylon Johnson posted 14 points, including eight of the team's first 11 points of the game before getting into early foul trouble, going 6-for-8 on the day.
• Johnny Dieck recorded 13 points and six boards while knocking down a pair of three-pointers and shooting 5-for-7 overall.
How it Happened
• The Trolls came out strong, jumping out to a 9-4 lead within the game's first three and a half minutes, thanks to three quick scores from Johnson, and a three-pointer from Dieck. The Lakers would respond with a 11-2 run to take a 15-11 advantage by the 13:43 mark of the first half.
• Two straight threes from Danny Staskunas put Trinity back in front, 22-19 midway through the first, but after Hudak's bucket with 4:44 left in the half the Trolls would go without a field goal until the break, as Roosevelt took a 33-28 lead into the second half.
• Roosevelt would lead by as much as nine early in the second half, before Trinity responded, going on a 13-3 run over a six-minute span to reclaim the lead, 53-51.
• Trinity would briefly tie the game with Loerop's bucket at the 4:44 mark, 56-56, but Roosevelt would respond with a three-pointer on the other end of the floor and hold a narrow lead the rest of the way.
