• Coming off a pair of results to open the new season, Trinity Men's Soccer closes out a three-match homestand on Wednesday when they host St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.). The Trolls then take their first road trip of the year on Saturday, to Grand View (Iowa).
• Trinity earned a 1-1 draw last weekend with No. 22 Rio Grande (Ohio); the result was the first win or draw against a nationally-ranked opponent since 2007.
David Hernandez scored his first goal of the year in the first half, before the Red Storm found the equalizer in the 82nd minute.
• On Thursday, the Trolls kicked off the 2025 season with a 2-0 win over Dordt (Iowa). Freshman
Rafael Alonso and senior
Diego Millas both scored their first career goals since arriving at Trinity, and
Roberto Navarro secured his fourth career shutout.
• Wednesday will be the third meeting in three years with St. Mary-of-the-Woods; both sides battled to a draw the last time the Pomeroys visited Palos Heights in 2023, and the Trolls took a dominant road win last season, 4-0.
•
Joao Leonardo scored his first career goal against SMWC in 2023; the junior has collected four career goals as a Troll to date.
•
Daniel Garcia,
Guillermo Mate, and
Ivan Perez all collected goals in the 4-0 win over the Pomeroys last year. Current assistant coach
Tiago Alfieri pitched in with a goal and two assists in the win.
• Saturday's matchup at Grand View will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Vikings were 5-8-5 overall last season, and opened 2025 with a 2-1 win over Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Saturday.
• As a team, the Trolls are tied for the CCAC lead in both goals (3) and assists (2) this season.
• The Trolls are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history; in 2024, Trinity set a program record with 17 victories. The team reached the CCAC Tournament Final after placing third in the regular season, and made their deepest-ever run in the NCCAA Tournament, falling in the national semifinals in penalties.
