Three goals lead to first conference win over Red Hawks

The Trinity men's soccer team traveled to the Crown Point Sportsplex on Sept. 25 to face the Indiana University-Northwest Red Hawks. Following this CCAC matchup, it was the Trolls who ended up victorious.

In the first half, the only person able to find the back of the net was junior Justin Taylor, who scored off an assist from freshman Matt Stuursma in the 25th minute.

From there, Trinity kept control of the game, scoring two more goals in the second half thanks to junior Fekadu Timmermans and sophomore Manasse Mbuyi, who both score unassisted goals in the 58th and 80th minutes.

Although Vincent Lopez of the Red Hawks scored a goal, it wasn't enough for them to win the match. Trinity beat Indiana-Northwest 3-1.

Along with the offensive effort from the Trolls, junior Mathis Muller only allowed one goal, making five saves.

The Trolls will be back in action again Saturday as they head to the University of St. Francis for another CCAC conference match. Their game will start at 3:30 p.m. following the women's match against the Fighting Saints.
