Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Trolls won a close game against Judson 71-70 on Wednesday, February 15th.
The first half was a physical battle for both teams. For most of the first half neither team could really get out ahead. As the half went on, Judson (6-21, 4-15 CCAC) slowly started to pull away, but Trolls leading scorer Troy Glover fought to keep it close. Going into half the Trolls (11-16, 6-14 CCAC) found themselves down 11 despite Glovers' 12 points.
Neither team could get going in the second half as both teams went scoreless for the first 3 minutes until Trolls guard Saeer Miller hit a 3 point shot which was the start of a 8-0 run for the Trolls to cut the Judson lead down to just 3 points. The Trolls held Judson scoreless for the first 7 minutes of the second half and a an alley oop to Dustin Hudak gave the Trolls the lead. Judson fought back and was holding a small lead on Trinity until Braxton Barnhizer hit a 3 with 5 minutes left to go up 53-52. Trolls kept fighting and pushed their lead to 6 points when Brown got a block on the opponents dunk attempt which gave the Trolls more momentum with just 2 minutes remaining. Trolls had a 4 point lead with a minute left to go and Judson hit a clutch 3 to make cut the Trolls lead to 1 point. The Trolls turned the ball over with 30 seconds left which gave Judson essentially the last possession down 1 point. Judson took a 3 which rimmed out and the Trolls forced a turnover on a Judson offensive rebound, which led to a dunk by Glover to put the Trolls up 3 points with just 2.5 seconds left. With one second left, Judson had a last ditch shot from the corner which went in and sent the game into overtime.
Overtime was just as back and forth as the ending of the fourth quarter. Both teams went punch for punch not wanting to give up ground in overtime. The Trolls found themselves with a 3 point lead with less than a minute left in overtime, when Judson cut the lead to 1 with 23 seconds left with a second chance layup. With 10 seconds left Noah Andringa missed a foul shot, but responded by getting the clutch steal to ice the game against Judson. Trolls pulled out the close win 71-70. Glover led the Trolls with 23 points in the win. The Trolls look to get another win Senior Night this Saturday, February 18th at 3pm against Simmons (Ky.).
