CHANNAHON, Ill. – Trinity Cross Country opened the 2024 season on Friday evening, as the Trolls took on the St. Francis Twilight Invite, held at Channahon Community Park.
Women's 5k
• The Trolls earned a sixth-place team result, scoring 187 points on the day. Junior Ari Juarez led the team in her Trinity debut as the only runner under 22 minutes. Juarez placed 37th overall, with a time of 21:36.
• Freshman Alyssa Seinen was the team's second finisher, earning a 47th place finish and a time of 22:13. A pair of veterans were close behind, with junior Maddy Butler (22:39; 51st) and senior Olivia Wrobel (23:13; 54th) taking the team's third and fourth spots.
• Sophomore Angelina Calvillo rounded out the scoring positions for the Trolls, placing 65th overall with a 24:32.
Men's 5k
• Trinity would take home 9th in the men's race, with a tally of 252 points. Senior Trenton Brown earned the team's top spot for the first time in his career, leading the Trolls with a time of 17:08 and a 50th place finish overall.
• Aitor Moya was the team's only other runner under 18 minutes, crossing the line at 17:59 to finish 69th.
• Junior Jesus Portilla (18:39; 83rd), freshman Jacob Brower (18:42; 85th), and sophomore Jeremiah Klompein (18:46; 86th) finished all within a seven second span to finish out the scoring positions for the Trolls.
