ELMHURST, Ill. – Trinity Track & Field got the outdoor season underway over the weekend, as the Trolls competed in the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by Elmhurst and Wheaton Colleges.
The Trolls would secure six NCCAA qualifying marks, all from the women's side, including four in the distance and mid-distance events. Jordyn Fleener and Ari Juarez set qualifying marks in the women's 1,500 meters, finishing 19th and 26th overall, respectively. Maite Farin in the women's 5,000 meters, and Maddy Butler in the women's 10,000 meters also secured NCCAA qualifying times, with Butler's 6th-place finish the top result for the Trolls throughout the meet.
In the women's high jump, Abigail Hoekzema would place 10th and qualify for NCCAA nationals with a jump of 1.51m (4' 11.5").
In the sprint events, Alysia Arias took 20th overall in the women's 200 meters, with an NCCAA qualifying time of 1:02.10. Arias was also one of six athletes from the women's squad to set a personal best throughout the meet, as her time of 27.14 in the 200 meters was a career-best non-wind aided time.
On the men's side, five personal records were met in the sprints and mid-distance.
